Special Needs Children, Uganda

As an SEN professional, you value every child you work with but know that some need a little extra support to reach their potential. There are several schools who would benefit from your skills and expertise in this area as children with special educational needs can often struggle in mainstream school. You could make a real difference with the training and resources you have, sharing this with teachers and support staff to help overcome obstacles to learning and support those who need it.

Over the years, we have built a close relationship with the Uganda School for the Deaf, a residential school in Kampala, that is working hard with its pupils to ensure that they have access to a good education and a positive future. Work here over the years has involved training staff in using audiology equipment to help assess children’s hearing and providing much needed hearing aids and in supporting teachers in differentiating work in lessons and in the academic assessment of deaf children.
